Shelter solutions

For operating the EM27/SUN under challenging environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, shelters for the EM27/SUN spectrometers improve their operational reliability.

Different working groups and companies are working on the provision of commercially available shelter solutions for the EM27/SUN (and other spectrometers approved for COCCON). Below, we list commercially available shelter solutions notified to us.

Shelter offered by Graw Met Systems (Shanghai) Co. Ltd (named APES - EM27/SUN):

APES provides reliable protection for the Bruker EM27/SUN, which improves environmental adaptability. It uses a detachable glass dome with > 85% transmittance. The shelter has a cabinet-type heating and cooling air conditioner and an automatically opening and closing protective cover. Additionally, the system supports remote monitoring and control.

The impact of the dome on XGAS has been tested by the working group of Prof. Qiansi Tu at Tongji University, China, by switching between measurements with and without dome on several days.

Based on the test results, we regard the use of APES as compatible with COCCON requirements, as no effects on XCO2, XCH4 and XAIR are detectable, while mild disturbances on the ~ 2 ppb range for XCO are observed (which is inside the spectrometer-to-spectrometer scatter of this weak absorber).
